Both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Connecticut bankruptcy filings increased in the 2nd quarter of 2006.
In the first quarter, Connecticut bankruptcy attorneys filed 502 Chapter 7 bankruptcies and 260 Chapter 13 bankruptcies.
By the end of the second quarter, the Connecticut bankruptcy courts processed 938 more Chapter 7 bankruptcies but only 52 more Chapter 13 bankruptcies.
Consumers must meet a means test to qualify for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
According to these numbers, most people recently filing for bankruptcy in Connecticut are qualifying for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
