Don't be afraid to contact one of our Milwaukee bankruptcy attorneys.
Many of the clients of our Milwaukee bankruptcy attorneys originally delayed seeking support. They felt overwhelmed and ashamed. Looking back, they usually realized that they avoided seeing our Milwaukee bankruptcy attorneys because they simply did not want to fully come to terms with their financial problems. Once they realized their mistake, however, and met with one of our Milwaukee bankruptcy attorneys, they wondered why they had continued to put themselves through so much stress.
According to the American Bankruptcy Institute, more than 1.1 million consumers filed a Chapter 7 case last year. Our Milwaukee bankruptcy attorneys feel, however, that while a few of these had over-used credit cards without any intention of repaying their debts, it is important to recognize that nearly 90% of cases are filed by individuals who are facing unforeseen problems.

Find out what your Credit Report has to say about your money management skills.
The Fair Credit Reporting Act was amended several years ago to improve consumer privacy rules. Due to this, you are legally entitled to obtain your credit report from a credit-reporting agency. This includes receiving a list of everyone that has requested your report.
If you are denied credit based on information in your credit report (the creditor must provide a reason for denial), you have 60 days from the day you receive a denial notice to receive a free copy of the credit report.
The law also entitles you to receive a free credit report every 12 months if you are unemployed and seeking work within the next 60 days, are on welfare or your report is inaccurate as a result of credit fraud.
Of course, you may also pay to obtain a credit report anytime. The three major credit reporting agencies, or credit bureaus, are Equifax, Experian and Trans Union.
Credit bureaus also offer a variety of bundled services related to your credit report. For example, Equifax and Experian presently offered a combination of your credit score and credit report for $12.95-$14.95. In addition, the Fair Credit Reporting Act also entitles you to contact each or all of the major credit bureaus (and Innovis, a fourth credit bureau) and request them to stop sending you card solicitations and related offers.
